VCS School Model
The Valley Christian School Model
Valley Christian has chosen to remain a non-profit school since it was founded in 1979. This choice is significant as it has impacted us, our school families, and our students in several important ways:
• Our non-profit status has allowed us to maintain control over our curriculum. This allows for Biblical teaching, Godly mentoring, and supports our effort to sustain an environment and culture that promotes Biblical morals and values. Our founding families prayerfully implemented the blueprint for VCS that is still used today; the One Voice Model. This model represents God’s truths, being taught and modeled at school, home, and in church – one voice all saying the same thing.
• Our choice to remain non-profit precludes us from receiving certain funding from state and federal entities that are available to public schools. Receiving these funds would require compromising our commitment to education taught through a Biblical worldview as this would no longer be allowed.
• Without funding from state or federal entities, we are mostly reliant on two forms of income: tuition dollars and donations. The amount the school receives in tuition every year typically covers 75-80% of the annual school budget, while donations make up the 20-25% difference.
• Because our school budget begins each year with a significant financial requirement, we must fundraise throughout the year for important budgetary needs like teacher and staff salaries, operational costs, academic needs, and extracurricular offerings. These are necessities that keep VCS operational.
